Advanced molecular tools for imaging and sustainability

The AMoTIS Team focus on developing new chemical syntheses and new processes to access, in a sustainable fashion, complex molecular structures.


These topics, we are interested in, include:


  1. the generation of molecular diversity and complexity from simple precursors under safe and environmentally friendly conditions with a strong contribution of main group elements (especially Boron), including catalytic processes;
  2. a specific focus on the introduction of fluorine atom onto molecules of biological relevance either through C–F or B–F bond formation;
  3. the combination of the first two topics to provide new accesses to radiofluorinated probes for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging and multimodal probes.


Thus innovative chemical methods are pursued based on the expertise of the group members from main group chemistry, organic synthesis and catalysis to radiopharmaceutical production and in vivo injection. Close collaborations with imaging centres are opening the downstream developments of the projects taking off from the chemical bench and aiming at a bedside landing.
